About us

Gaza Timber is an independent, dynamic & modern company. We supply high quality timber and a full range of builder’s merchants’ materials and equipment. Established over 50 years, we are now very much a 21st century operation, with state-of-the-art computing technology handling stock control, purchasing and sales, yet keeping to the traditional values of a family business, with an emphasis on customer service.

Gaza Timber is recognised as having the largest and widest range of timber in the area and one of the first companies to convert to treated timber and more recently planed/regularised carcassing timber in line with market changes.

Our emphasis is on personal service, with a friendly, helpful and knowledgeable team who are more than happy to help with your choice of timber and building supplies. Our large premises has an extensive shop facility are located in the heart of the Kent countryside, yet only 5 minutes from the A21 and within easy access of Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells.

Gaza Timber has many advantages over the larger national companies not least of which is our competitive pricing policy – in fact many people find our prices cheap by comparison. We offer far greater flexibility and adaptability and don’t stock goods purely based on their turnover rate.

History

Founded in 1963 by Bill Lucas, Mid Kent Sectional Buildings (or MKSB) was a ‘prefab’ recycling business. During the late 1970’s and early 80’s the business emphasis turned more towards new timber and sheet materials, eventually becoming Gaza Timber in 1996.

Before that, Gaza Trading Estate had started life as an Army Barracks during WW11. Many British Army barracks have traditionally been named after Battles or Generals. The completed barracks built on the site at Eastwood Farm was apparently given the name Gaza after the victory over the Turks at Gaz by the Egyptian Expeditionary force in June 1917 under the command of Field Marshal Allenby.
